PEIMS Coding With PEIMS
LINKS at the bottom of this page
Quick Referance
Students can only be coded four ways
under Career and Technology PEIMS guidelines. The coding will
be either a 0,1,2 or 3. The rules are as follows:
PEIMS "0"-Indicates that the student is
not currently enrolled in a Career and Technology course.
PEIMS "1"- Indicates that the student
is enrolled in a Career and Technology course, but does not have
a 4 year plan of study outlining a coherent sequence of courses
in Career and Technology.
PEIMS "2"- Indicates that the student
has a 4-year plan of study to take 2 or more Care4er and Technology
courses for 3 or more credits in a program that is not a part
of an approved Tech Prep program.
PEIMS "3"-Indicates that the student has
a 4-year plan of study to take 2 or more Career and Technology
courses for 3 or more credits in a program that is a part of an
approved Tech Prep program.
More Detailed Information
Students with NO CATE coherent sequence in the 4-year
plan:
1. Code 0 is used for each Snap Shot date in which
the student is not enrolled in a CATE course;
2. Code 1 is used for each Snap Shot date in which
the student is enrolled in a CATE course.
Students WITH CATE coherent sequence in the 4-year
plan:
1. Code 0 is used for the Snap Shot date UNTIL the
student has enrolled in or completed the first CATE course;
2. Code 2 is used for every Snap Shot date AFTER
the student has enrolled in or completed the first CATE course
if the coherent sequence is not part of a Tech-Prep 6-year plan
(student does not need to be in a CATE class at the time of the
Snap Shot);
3. Code 3 is used for every Snap Shot date AFTER
the student has enrolled in or completed the first CATE course
if the coherent sequence is part of a Tech-Prep 6-year plan (student
does not need to be in a CATE class at the time of the Snap Shot);
4. Code 1 is never used for these students.
Because statewide-articulated courses may be used
as electives or part of CATE coherent sequences, do not base coding
of students on enrollment in these courses alone. So, if a student
is enrolled in, or has completed, a statewide-articulated course,
use:
Code 1 if there is no CATE coherent sequence in
the student’s four-year plan;
Code 3 if there is a CATE coherent sequence in the student’s
four-year plan.
