The Weatherford College Tech Prep Consortium recently awarded $15,000 in scholarships to nine area students to attend Weatherford College. The amount also included continuation scholarships provided to five outstanding Weatherford College students that maintained a 3.0 GPA or above during the 2010-2011 year. Scholarship funds were raised through the sponsorship of and participation in the annual WC Tech Prep Scholarship Golf Tournament. Tech Prep is a college preparatory initiative that allows students to earn tuition-free college credits for high school technical courses that have been aligned with their corresponding college courses. These credits can satisfy a portion of the requirements that lead to an associate in applied science degree at the college. This educational pathway provides marketable skills for immediate entry into the job market or preparation for further study at the university. In a time when education seems to have less public support, our businesses demonstrated their commitment to education by generously providing scholarships so that these students can enjoy successful and enjoyable careers,” said WC President Dr. Kevin Eaton. “I’m humbled by their continued support for Weatherford College and our students.”
